Placename

Gaelic name: Fàl nam Muc

Name in Original Source: Falnamuck

English meaning: Pig-fold

Placename feature: Agricultural feature

Notes: This place name appears only in a rental list from 1798, an appendix to Kenneth MacDonald’s article to the Inverness Gaelic Society on the MacKenzie lairds. It would appear to have been somewhere near Borodal (q.v.) In Dwelly's Gaelic dictionary, 'fail-mhuc' is given as a pig-sty. The co-ordinates here are for a ruined structure which may well be in the appropriate place
