Placename

Gaelic name: Beinn a' Chlachain

Name in Original Source: Beinn a' Chlachain

English meaning: Hill of the Clachan (or church)

Placename feature: Hill

Notes: Applecross Estate Brochure of Sale, July 1887: The fifth beat is Ben-y-Chlachan, which includes Corrie Glass and the high lands of Sand and Sallacher, facing the islands of Raasay and Rona. This is a very extensive beat, and comes within half a mile of the House; it affords pretty fair stalking ground, and, although parts of it are a little rugged, there is a great deal of fine pasture.

This hill is very steep-sided and looms over Srath Maol Chaluim
