Notes: Àirigh na Cruithneachd? Shieling of the Picts; ... Of the Corn?. Recorded as Arrin-a-chruinach on the 1880 edition of this OS sheet. According to Roy Wentworth's Gaelic words and phrases from Wester Rossp.31: The druids of Arinacrinachd, druinich Àirigh nan Cruithneachd (nickname for the people of Arinacrinachd).
W. J. Watson's notes: 206: Airigh nan Cruineachd (O.S.M., Arrin-a-chruinach) - 'Cruineachd,' wheat, as the writer of the Old Stat. Acc. saw, is out of the question; and we can hardly escape the conclusion that here we have to do with the Cruithne, the Gaelic name of the Picts ... The Old Stat. Acc. says 'Arenacrionuic, literally, shieling of wheat, is clearly a corruption of 'arenan Druinich,' of the Druids,' which is still the popular notion.
