Placename

Gaelic name: Glac a' Chrochaire

Name in Original Source: Glac a' Chrochadair

English meaning: Rascal's hollow

Placename feature: Hollow

Notes: First gully south of the fank at Lot a Peirt (where someone was once hanged). [Dr Alexander K. Gillies' list compiled for the Applecross Historical Society, date unknown]

According to Duncan Murchison, 24th October 2012, the real meaning of the name is more likely to be a the rascal's/villain's hollow rather than anything to do with a hangman, as there doesn't appear to be a tradition related to hanging or capital punishment on this site.
