English meaning: The back of the promontory

Placename feature: Cliff

Notes: The general name given to the cliffs and the land on the west of the promontory known as Rubha Chamas Teile (q.v.) Written as Cul a Rutha in Kenneth Macrae’s notes, it relates to the seaward side of the Camusteel promontory. Here, Macrae and his brother Jack spent much time playing and exploring, and it is where Jack found a pistol which alledgedly belonged to Ruaraidh Iain Bhàin a’ Mhuilleir.
