Placename

Gaelic name: Cùl na Coille

Name in Original Source: Cùl na Coille

English meaning: The back of the wood/Behind the wood

Placename feature: Field

Notes: This name is given to a big park which stretches a long way from the end of the fence at Tòrr Garbh (q.v.) to the site of the old cattlegrid above A' Cheapaich (q.v.). Donald and Rhoda Cameorn used to have a sheep that wouldn’t stay in the hill in the summer, so she was put to Cùl na Coille. She had huge twins that grew to an enormous size.
