Applecross Placenames Project

Placename

Gaelic name: Druim Dubh

Name in Original Source: An Druimmadubh

English meaning: Black ridge

Placename feature: Ridge

Notes: This name appears in an undated list compiled by Kenneth Macrae F.S.A. Scot., (1903-1982) which is held by the Applecross Historical Society. The list runs in splintered sequences so it is hard to place this name accurately: it comes in a slightly random sequence running Fasach na crianaich, An Dubhghlaic, An Turramor, An Druimmadubh, Fasach na Faile which would at least indicate that it is in the area of the current Applecross Village Hall which sits between the first and last named of those places. The co-ordinates given are approximate
