Placename

Gaelic name: Fuaran Grod

Name in Original Source: Fuaran Grod

English meaning: Rotten Well/Spring

Placename feature: Well

Notes: This name refers to a well or spring above Toghsgaig (q.v.) which sits on or beside the path to An Àirigh Dhriseach (q.v.). Its exact location is unclear, so co-ordinates are a guide only until further verification can be made. The well appears to give off a sulphurous smell and the water has an unpleasant colour and taste, hence the name. Information from Phemie Fraser, 3rd August 2012
