Notes: This name only appears twice in Applecross records, in the census returns for 1841 (Cathair) and 1851 (Cair). In 1841, Dugald Matheson, a 50 year-old chepherd and his family are living there; it is believed to be on the slope of the hill immediately opposite Coille Mhùiridh(q.v.), the site of a walled enclosure today.<br /><br /><br /><br />In 1851, the resident is William Greig, also a shepherd, and his family.<br /><br /><br /><br />The informants to the Scottish Place Name Survey in May 1971 suggest that Peter Chisholm (c1875-1936) was born here, and that this was where the gamekeepers had a home before a newer building was constructed
