Placename

Gaelic name: Allt na h-Àirighe Gile

Name in Original Source: Allt na h-Àirighe Geal

English meaning: Stream of the white shieling

Placename feature: Fishing mark

Notes: Given to this project as Allt na h-Àirighe Geal, it was a landmark south of Cùaigat the viewpoint. Information from Donald R. Cameron, 02/08/2012: It was a mark for ground nets. If you could see the froth coming off the water fall this was the mark – too far north or south, you couldn’t see it. Calum Bànaidh of the Seaflower (Calum Livingstone, father of Dickie and Kenny), used to talk about it a lot and use it.

It is possible that this name is applied to a stream also known as cfAllt na h-Àirighe(2), hence it needs further investigation
