Applecross Placenames Project

Placename

Gaelic name: Àth Cheapaich, An

Name in Original Source: Ath Cheapaich, An

English meaning: The kiln of Keppoch

Placename feature: Man-made feature

Notes: This name appears in an undated list compiled by Kenneth Macrae F.S.A. Scot., (1903-1982) which is held by the Applecross Historical Society. The list runs in splintered sequences but this name is easy to place - it refers to the former lime kilns, long since disused, which sit against the hillside a little to the north of the house at A' Cheapaich
