Placename

Gaelic name: Bealach na Gaoithe

Name in Original Source: Bealach na Gaoithe

English meaning: Pass of the wind

Placename feature: Pass

Notes: Information from Mike Summers, 13th March 2012. This name refers to an exposed section of road near, or at, the summit of the Bealach na Bà. The wind blows through here and stops the snow from settling on it, giving the false impression that the road is passable further on, when, in fact, the snow can drift in dangerously. [Exact location needs to be verified for the co-ordinates used]
