Placename

Gaelic name: Allt a' Spùtain

Name in Original Source: Allt a' Spùtain

English meaning: Stream of the little spout

Placename feature: Stream

Notes: This little stream has its source on the hill ground above the settlement of A' Cheapaich, a little to the north-west of (and below) the hill known as Creag Ruadh. It runs downhill through Pairc an Tulaich and eventually provides the water for both the Holy Well and Spùtan a' Bhile. According to the informants to the Scottish Place Name Survey in May 1971 (PN1971.017), this stream was reputed to have the best water in Applecross
